Christian people are called to worship God together in a community of people called the Church. At Holy Cross, we do this together both in the historic Old Church and in the splendid architecture of the New Church.
Sunday Services
Our normal times for worship are 8am every Sunday, for a said Eucharist, in the historic
Old Church, and the Parish Mass at 9:30 in the New Church.
Please see Stop Press or the Diary for information about other Services. A copy of the Stop Press can be accessed using the menu above.
The community of individuals brings what they are to this worship and we come as we are.
We bring old and young, children and babies, women and men.
We bring health and sickness as well as ability and disability.
We bring joy and optimism, as well as grief and sadness.
We bring our strengths and our enthusiasms as well as our weaknesses and despair
We bring all that we are and together, offer it to God in thanksgiving for our lives, in prayer for forgiveness and in hope for a more wholesome future for ourselves, our community and our world.
In our worship,
- we confess our sins and hear of God's forgiveness
- we proclaim the Word of God and respond in prayers and songs
- we offer gifts of bread, wine and water and then
- we the community pray together the Eucharistic Prayer making the Body and Blood of Christ really present in our lives
- we receive communion with God and with each other and then
- we go forth in the strength of the Holy Spirit to live our lives as the Body of Christ, his Church, in our every day experiences
During the Parish Mass, there is a Crèche in the Parish Room for under 5's, run by a group of volunteer parents.
During the Parish Mass our Chris...Cross group (children of Infant Department age) meets in the Old Church for age-appropriate Christian education. The children return to present their work and join in communion with their parents and other adults.
After The Parish Mass, there is a Parish Breakfast of tea, coffee, biscuits and soft drinks.
If you are new or just visiting, please join in and introduce yourself.
